BETTER TOGETHER NAMETAG SUNDAY! Sunday, July 14, at 9am and 10:30am, we are encouraging everyone to wear a name tag to foster connection among our church family. NameTags & Sharpie markers will be available in the back of the seats, with the Service Hosts or at the Welcome Desk. Four colors will be available to identify your town. FM- green. CAZ- blue. JD- red. SYR- orange. Join us for the Connection Lunch after the 1030am service!
We are proud to celebrate Jacob Hannafan as our volunteer of the week! Jacob volunteers in the Jungle almost every week, often serving during both services. He is our "tech guy" and we would not be able to run our computers and music without him. Jacob always has a smile on his face and continually greets everyone with the same enthusiasm. When asked why he enjoys volunteering at church, Jacob says: "I like serving because it helps people. It's what God wants me to do. I feel needed, and God says, "Go." I get to be with people, talk to them, and make friends. They need me, and it feels good to be there and help. Why stay home doing nothing and be by myself when I can go help? I like it there, and they like me." We are so thankful for Jacob and the whole Hannafan family that serve our church so faithfully. Leave Jacob some words of encouragement! We are proud to celebrate Rachel Mosher as our volunteer of the week! Rachel has been involved in Deaf ministry since 2006 and has been signing at Eastern Hills since 2010. "I began learning sign language in the early 2000s and had a thought that turned into a tug on my heart: "Why isn't sign language happening in the church?" When God tugs, you answer, so I began learning sign language and training to be an interpreter. As I trained under another Christian interpreter, I found out that Deaf are the most under-reached people group in the world. Only 2% have ever 'heard' the gospel. Knowing that inspired me on. I am so grateful for the opportunity to share the gospel, music, and messages this church provides. And watching this ministry grow encourages me to show up every week. I am also so grateful for Amy and Laurie for joining the work. And a big thank you to the pastors and staff for helping us do our work." We are so thankful for Rachel and her faithful service. We are proud to celebrate our Student Community leaders as volunteers of the week! This fantastic group of people gets up early every Sunday morning to spend time with middle and high school students, and they love it! Each leader helps to create a warm, welcoming, and fun environment for students to feel safe, able to share, and ask questions. Almost all of these leaders have been with their small groups for two or more years, creating deep relationships, and providing consistency for students during a phase of life filled with changes. We are so thankful for the heart they have for our students, their commitment to show up every Sunday, and their desire to see middle and high school students experience God. We are proud to celebrate Alex and Rebekah Clement as our volunteers of the week! Alex and Rebekah have been attending Eastern Hills for nine years and have actively participated in several small groups and classes. Six years ago, Alex and Rebekah began volunteering through our Learning Environment and have coordinated six different Financial Peace University (FPU) classes! Also, Alex and Rebekah occasionally volunteer in Promiseland where their two, soon to be three, children enjoy their Sunday mornings. Alex and Rebekah explain their passion for personal financial health "For the ten years, we have been married, we have lived the journey of becoming debt-free and have lived our lives by the biblical financial lessons taught in FPU. We felt called to share our story with others, and volunteering to coordinate FPU classes at Eastern Hills was that perfect opportunity. Sharing this life-changing material with others has been a blessing to us, and we look forward to continuing to share the message and our story." We are proud to celebrate Annika Madissoo as our volunteer of the week! Annika is 14 years old and has been attending Eastern Hills for her entire life. She started volunteering six months ago and loves spending time with the kids in the three-year-olds room. Annika has been inspired by seeing children grow in their faith and plans to continue volunteering in Promiseland! We are incredibly thankful for enthusiastic volunteers like Annika. We are proud to celebrate Jim Shields as our volunteer of the week! Jim faithfully volunteers at the Promiseland welcome desk every other week. He and his wife Linda have five children and two grandchildren and have been attending Eastern Hills for 22 years. Jim is always ready to help wherever he is needed, whether it be greeting a new family or assisting with the check-in computers. His welcoming and friendly nature extends to all of those around him unless you are rooting against SU, then you might see his competitive side. We are proud to celebrate Jason Bjork as our Volunteer of the Week! Jason and his wife Sarah have been attending Eastern Hills since 2014, and both greatly enjoy the messages, the worship, and the community of friends they have found. Jason has been faithfully serving the children of Eastern Hills in the Ocean Room since 2015. Jason explains how volunteering at church has had an impact on his life: "Through volunteering, I have taken part in helping my children grow as Christians, which has helped me be a better father. I learned how to listen and communicate better to my children. Eastern Hills makes it easy to be a volunteer on Sunday mornings; I come in and read the lesson for the day, we let the children play, have small group time, large group time, and finish with crafts and activities. My kids enjoy me being a volunteer and are always proud to see there dad serving God." Leave Jason a word of encouragement!
